ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REPORT OF RESIDENTIAL PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR SCHEDULED CASTE CHILDREN
AT-LEKHANAPUR, DIST-NAYAGARH
Bhairabi Club, Kurumpada, Khurda a state level voluntary organization’s intervention of rural, Tribal development combines with educational inputs, social welfare, Women & Child Development activities for the holistic development of the Community. Apart from this Bhairabi Club has made systematic effort for enabling universalisation of primary education for the age group of 6-14. This organisation believes that education act as a major role eradicates all form of injustice in the society.
During the intervention of various project Bhairabi Club found that Majority of rural scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Children couldn’t avail the benefits of existing system at education provided by the Govt.
The School dropout and retention is very high among the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students due to ignorant and low socio economic status of the family.
Keeping in the mind the felt need of School going student of Scheduled Caste communities and to provide free and compulsory education to the school going students of Scheduled Caste communities Bhairabi Club, Kurumpada, Khurda have established a Residential Primary School for the Scheduled Caste at Lekhanpur in Ranpur Block during the year 1998-99.
ORGANISATIONAL SET UP
The Residential Primary School for Scheduled Caste was set up with assistance of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Lekhanpur, Po-Sarangadharpur, Dist-Nayagarh during the year 1998-99. The school was functioning w.e.f. 1st July 1998. Presently the School is running at Koilema (Lekhanpur), Dist-Nayagarh. It is barically a residential set up primary school and provides co-educational facilities to the scheduled caste children. The institution providing free and compulsory education to 100 scheduled caste children with free Boarding, Lodging, School Uniform, Medical Services, Teaching and Learning Materials and Text Books to the students and staffs.
Apart from class room teaching the students are taught about components of the life in morning and evening prayer, art and craft, song and music, reservation of natural heritage, kitchen gardening, yoga and physical educational and vocational training.
The requisite trained teaching staffs with non-teaching staff were appointed for the smooth management at the school. A part time doctor also appointed to provide medical services to the students. The headmaster of the concerned school has been given responsibility for the smooth management and administration of the day-to-day activities of the school.
BUILDING
Two specious building have been taken on rent both for the purpose of school and hostel. Health and salutation, electricity facilities were available for the students. It is full filling the norms specified by the Govt. for the students. The building remains under occupation of the management.
ENROLLMENT
During the education session 2007-08 21 students were admitted in the school last session students of class-V have promoted to next higher class and they will taken their SLC to read also where.
FURNITURE & FIXTURES
The school has already provided the necessary furniture and fixture for each classroom, office and hostel both for students and staffs. The equipments like Table, Chair, High Desk, Bench, Almirah, Cut, Bed, Bedding, Fan, Cooking, Utensil, Play Materials, Dari have been supplied to the hostel and school.
CURRICULUM ADOPTED
The curriculum is developed for primary school by Department of man education has been adopted in the school. Besides the schooling kitchen gardening, physical education & Yoga and art & craft training were given regularly to the student for their mental & physical development.
TEACHING LEARNING MATERIALS.
The teaching learning materials like Book, Paper, Pen, Pencil, Eraser, Khata, Slate, Duster, Chalk, Pointer, B.B. Cloth, Chart, Globe, Map etc. has been provided to the school and students.
MEDICAL SERVICES
A part time doctor has been appointed for free medical check-up and referral services of the students. The doctor is visited the school once in a week.
UNIFORM
During the year under report 4 pairs of school uniform sky colour shirt and Blue colour pants were being supplied to each students of the school. The management of the organisation has supply of School Bag, Shoes, Identity Cards, Tie & Batches to each student during the session 2007-2008.
OBSERVATION OF IMPORTANT DAYS.
The important days such as Independence Day, Re-public Day, Ganeshpuja, Utkal Dibas, Saraswatipuja, Holi Parva, International Literacy Day, Children’s Day, Teachers Day and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti have been observed in the school.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES.
For the recreational activities of the students, the game and sports equipment like football, ring ball, skipping, cricket bat, cricket ball etc. has been supplied to the school. A physical educational Teacher has appointed for the Physical development of the students. The indoor and outdoor game along with Yoga and Physical exercise was done for the increase of concentration power and mental balance.
CONCLUSION.
As such the maintenance & running of Residential Primary School for the Scheduled Caste is a challenging task. As somuch difficulties the institution running the school smoothly. Since inception the Ministry has sanctioned the furniture & fixtures once for running of the school. So we earnestly requested to the Ministry to reconsider and sanction the grant-in-aid for furniture & fixture of Rs. 70,000/- during the year 2008-09 for smooth management of the school.
